BROOKVILLE – It was no secret who was walking out of the Franklin County High School gymnasium with the hardware Saturday (Feb. 1).

East Central, after an unbeaten regular season, scored 293 points to Milan’s 164.5 to easily capture the IHSAA wrestling sectional. The Trojans had six champions and sent all 14 wrestlers on to the regional round.

Batesville, though placing 9th out of 10 teams, was able to get three wrestlers through. Josh Mobley was runner-up to EC’s unbeaten Bryer Hall at 152 pounds and JT Linkel placed third at 145. Alex Murphy survived another weekend by placing fourth at 113.

Along with Hall, Trojan Kyle Krummen (195) stayed unbeaten on the year, as did teammate Blake Wolf at 113. Tyler Schneider (120), Ben Wolf (145) and Kole Viel (182) also won their divisions.
