Twisters hand out awards

The Oldenburg Academy boys tennis team celebrated its 2019 season with a banquet honoring the players, parents and coaches.

The following awards were presented.

Senior Awards went to Will Yunger and Henry Meyer and Twister Awards to Nate Geis, Will Hollingsworth and Matthew Graf. Most Complete Player was Michael Wanstrath.

Most Improved Player was split three ways among Riley Schebler, Jon Grieshop and Ethan Back. Most Improved for junior varsity were Colton and Hunter Schuckmann.

The Twisters finished with a 16-3 record and also won the Eastern Hancock Invitational.

GOTR returns Nov. 16

Girls on the Run of Margaret Mary Health is celebrating 15 years of inspiration in 2019! The fall 5K will be held Nov. 16 at Knights of Columbus, Batesville, starting at 10 a.m. Pre-5K activities begin at 9 a.m.

276 girls from Ripley, Decatur and Franklin counties will be running/walking along with their buddies. Over 1,000 5K participants, volunteers and spectators are expected.

Nationals win first World Series title

The Washington Nationals earned the franchise’s first world championship in baseball by taking Game 7 of the World Series Wednesday, 6-2.

Trailing Houston 2-0 late, the Nats got home runs from Anthony Rendon and Howie Kendrick to deliver the title to D.C. Pitcher Stephen Strasburg was named series MVP.

The Nationals are the former Montreal Expos.
