Lady Bulldogs fade late

Leading the host Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles for a good chunk of the time Friday night, Batesville slipped to 2-6 on the season with a 52-48 loss.

The Lady Bulldogs led 15-12 after one period and 38-35 at the end of the third. The Eagles put together a 17-10 frame to get the comeback win.

Batesville hosts Shelbyville Saturday night.

Twisters edged in shootout

NBA-level offense was on display Saturday night in Oldenburg, as the host Twisters opened the 2019-20 campaign with a 95-93 loss to South Decatur.

Oldenburg (0-1) will visit Edinburgh Friday night.

OA girls fall at U. County

Oldenburg’s varsity girls hoops dropped to 0-6 on the year after a 43-34 loss at Union County Nov. 26.

The Lady Twisters host Edinburgh Dec. 3.

Freshmen pick up first win

Batesville’s 9th-grade boys evened their season record at 1-1 following a 40-34 victory over Jac-Cen-Del.

Cole Pride led the Batesville effort with 11 points. Nate Vankirk scored 6, with Ben Harmeyer and Lyle Oesterling throwing in 5 each.

Eckstein earns All-America honors

Former Oldenburg Academy cross country standout Curt Eckstein placed in the top 25 at the NCAA Championships Nov. 23, helping the Purdue Boilermakers to their best finish (11th) since 1950.

Eckstein was 24th with a time of 31:11.2, his finish qualifying him for Division I All-America honors.
