Milan county champs after 60 years
It took them six decades to do it, but the Milan boys basketball team finally added another Ripley County championship to their trophy case with a 72-63 win over the host Batesville Bulldogs Saturday night.
Defeating the Dogs for the second time this year on their home court, Milan was down 17-15 after one quarter but rallied to lead 35-30 at halftime. The Indians built a 9-point advantage over the next eight minutes (53-44) and held serve for the title.
The title is Milan’s 11th overall but first since a 78-47 win over Versailles in 1960. South Ripley won the consolation game over Jac-Cen-Del, 69-54.
Batesville (2-7) will be at Greensburg Thursday for an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference tilt.
