OA boys top Waldron

Oldenburg Academy defeated Waldron in varsity boys basketball Monday, 50-31. The 31 tied a season best for points allowed by the Twisters’ defense. JT Johns led the Mohawks with 13 points.

OA (5-2) will play in the Indianapolis Shortridge holiday tournament Saturday, facing the host Blue Devils at noon.

JV downed in overtime

Batesville’s junior varsity boys were upended in overtime Dec. 21 at East Central, losing 50-47.

The Bulldogs led at each stop until the Trojans dropped 17 points in the fourth quarter.

Alex Siefert led BHS with 18 points; Austin Cornn had 10, Calvin Sherwood 8, Alec Bunselmeier 5, Cody Mohr 3 and Cole Werner 3.

Freshmen 3rd at invite

The Batesville 9th-graders lost the first game of their own invitational Dec. 21 to Jac-Cen-Del, 46-30. Willy Sherwood scored 10 points.

In the consolation game, the Bulldogs (4-5) faced Hauser and won 48-40. Nate Vankirk led the team with 16, followed by Ben Harmeyer with 9 and Cole Pride with 7.

Next up is Whiteland Jan. 4.
