EC defeats Dogs on links

Batesville's boys golf team dropped a dual meet May 23 at Hillcrest Golf & Country Club. East Central won the matchup 193-200.

The Bulldogs and Oldenburg Academy attend Friday's sectional at Greensburg Country Club.

BMS competes at state

The middle school state track/field championships were May 18. Batesville had a handful of competitors, led by Madelyn Pohlman breaking the school record in the 400 (1:01.31). It was good for third place.

Ava Hanson, Jada Day, Kaylynn Bedel and Kaylie Raver were runners-up in the 4x800 relay. Elena Kuisel, Lizzy Nobbe, Nadine Davis and Pohlman took 7th in the 4x100. Will Sherwood, Jake Chapman, Emi Lopez and Eli Loichinger finished 8th in the 4x800. Veronica King finished 9th in shot put. Hanson finished 19th in the mile.

Rough weekend for Curve

The Curve 12-under travel baseball team went 0-3 last weekend. Losses came to Powerhouse Premier (6-2 & 10-1) and Midwest Astros Brown (8-0).

Powerhouse had a home run as one of 10 hits (and 4 steals) in the first encounter as Dylan Thomas took the loss. He struck out two. Bryson Kelso had a base hit for Curve. Lance Coy took the loss against the Astros, who collected 8 hits in all. Jacob Stenger suffered the loss in the second match with Powerhouse, despite tossing 6 strikeouts. He was 2-of-2 at the plate.
