Registration is now open for the 2020 spring and summer Batesville youth baseball/softball leagues at The Plex, league president Brent Young has announced.
Registration is open until the end of March, though all players registered before Feb. 1 will receive a $5 discount per player.
To register online, go to www.batesvilleplex.org and click on the “REGISTRATION NOW OPEN” button. For parents that want to pay in cash or by check, those registrations will need to be completed in-person, either at an onsite registration event or arranged with a board member.
The league will be holding an onsite registration event at the Southeastern YMCA (30 State Road 129 South) on Jan. 25, 10 a.m.-noon. Members of the board will be there to assist with registrations, accept cash/check payments, and answer any questions that parents may have.
Families that have financial need should contact a board member or attend an onsite registration event. Many options are available to reduce fees for those in need.
Practices start approximately March 30, with games held at the Plex starting approximately May 9 through the end of June. Each league, other than T-Ball, will have an end-of-season tournament during the week of July 6-10.
Age ranges are as follows: T-Ball (5-6), Rookie baseball (7-8), Minors baseball (9-10), Majors baseball (11-12), Babe Ruth baseball (13-15), 8-under softball (7-8), 10u Junior softball (9-10), 12u Junior softball (11-12), and 15u Senior softball (13-15).
Player age is calculated based upon the player age on April 30 of this year for baseball or the player age on Dec. 31, 2019 for softball.
For all age groups, parents will have the option of allowing their child to “play-up” if their child is within 1 year of the cut-off (for example, a 10-year-old could opt to play up in Majors, if they feel they are ready, or a 4-year-old could play T-Ball).
