The Oldenburg Academy boys’ basketball team beat Union County High School 44-25 Dec. 13. 

The Twisters moved out to a 13-4 lead in the first quarter and were well ahead by the half. 

“The Twisters led 30-6 at the half on the strength of near flawless execution,” stated head coach Gary “Ace” Moorman. OA had only one turnover in the first half, and there were only three free throws shot during the entire game: two by UCHS and one by OA.

In the second half, the Patriots outscored the the Twisters by five points, but not enough to overcome their lead. 

“Our focus throughout the game was the best we have had all year,” the coach analyzed. “We locked down on defense and took care of the ball on offense.”

Matt Moorman led the scoring with 22, supported by Cory Schuman, who had three long strikes for nine points. Drew Kloepfer added seven, Ted Geis four and Matty Hurm two. Moorman also contributed four assists and five steals. 

The Twisters previously beat International School of Indiana 55-40 Dec. 6 in Indianapolis. 

The team plays Milan High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in Milan.
