The St. Louis School Lady Cardinals hosted the Franklin County Lady Wildcats for seventh- and eighth-grade games Feb. 17.

The eighth-graders defeated the visitors 34-9. Scoring by SLS were all nine of the girls that played in the game: Sadie Wachsmann, 7; Rhea Miller and Kate Weber, 6 each; Claire Saner, 4; Iza Wonnell, 3; Ava Owens, Catherine Streator, Madison Wanstrath and Lilly Schebler, 2 each.

According to Trenkamp, “We really tried to work on our passing and running an offense to earn the points instead of a fast break game. They really did a nice job doing this and getting everyone open to score. Defensively, we did a great job of helping and keeping shots to a minimum for Franklin County.”

Coach Erin Trenkamp reported the youngest team fell short with a final score of 19-27. Scoring for SLS were Lucy Abplanalp with 14 points, Kenzie Maple with 3 and Anna Moore with 2. She added, “Ainsley Sipples was pulling down rebounds for us, while Emily Schebler and Maria Voegele were setting screens all night to get the shots off.”
