MILAN –Both the Batesville Bulldogs and Oldenburg Academy Twisters claimed wins Thursday (Dec. 19) at the Milan Elementary School pool in the annual pre-Christmas three-way meet.
With a number of close finishes on the evening, final results were tight at the end. Batesville’s boys won with 123 points as Milan was runner-up at 116; OA collected 48. The Lady Twisters pulled off first place with a total of 102 points, edging the Lady Bulldogs (94). Milan was competitive with 87.
Batesville earned a pair of relay wins. The boys 200 freestyle team of Mason Enneking, Ethan Brewer, Vonley Hund and Grant Story took first, as did the girls 400 free quartet of Maria Lopez, Liz Loichinger, Sonja Gaulin and Paige Oldham.
Gaulin was a 2-time winner individually, capturing the 50 free (29.54) and 200 free (2:23.58). Sean Callahan equaled that for the BHS boys, taking the 500 free (5:42.17) and 200 individual medley (2:20.84).
Also winning were Brewer (50 free; 26.42), Lopez (100 butterfly; 1:11.7) and Benjamin Moster (100 fly; 1:04.84).
Another notable was Milan’s Ariel Haessig setting a new school record in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.21).
Batesville will visit Shelbyville Jan. 9. Oldenburg starts its second half Jan. 11 at Madison.
