On Dec. 1, 350 people who came to the annual “We Help. We Heal. We Hope.” fundraiser for Safe Passage were fortunate to witness the community’s compassionate and generous spirit at the start of this giving season. There were 47 sponsors, 33 table designers, 31 table captains and 140 businesses, organizations or individuals who supported the annual fundraiser to ultimately make our communities healthier and safer. Three local speakers impacted by domestic or sexual violence shared their stories and gratitude of how Safe Passage helped transform their lives. None of this could be accomplished without local support.
In turn, Safe Passage is beyond grateful. We particularly want to thank some big raffle contributors: Indiana Grand Casino/Center Cut, Simplicity Pest, Batesville Tool & Die, RomWeber, Joan and John Hillenbrand for the Nambe Nativity and Cecilia Rose and friends for the decorated tree. Also, the Steins, Luersens, Gratzes, Cooleys and Wilzes, plus Dustin Rowland, Matt Sharpless, Kyle Chaffee, Frost Brown & Todd attorney firm, for valuable auction donations raising a record amount for Safe Passage.
We at Safe Passage are fortunate to see this same spirit year-round from churches, such as Community Church-Batesville, corporations like Hillenbrand and Hill-Rom, organizations such as the Brookville VFW and school groups like South Ripley who contribute in-kind or donate in some way. Just last week we delivered Christmas gifts to 203 families, all courtesy of the generous partners in our communities who wanted to make sure no one went without.
We are truly blessed to be able to provide this needed service and could not do so without the tremendous community support. You are truly a gift to so many!
