Dear Editor,

The Batesville Beautification League would like to thank the Batesville community and surrounding areas for their support again this year. It is always nice to hear positive comments from those that walk by as we are working.

Our goal is to keep our park and city areas fresh with seasonal flowers and decorations. We work hard raking, planting, feeding, weeding and dead heading in all of these areas. Another time consuming project is to decorate for Christmas. We are working from the mild fresh air of spring to the cold windy days of winter.

Most of us are senior citizens who have heavy duty help from Mike Baumer and his park department crew and the street department. The Bohman Tree farm always donates the greenery at Christmas time. We are so appreciative of their help. Any one willing to help us, age or gender does not matter, will be welcomed with open arms.

The raffle winners this year were Donald “Dogger” Dickey Jr., $500; Sarah Jaisle, $100; and Barb Benens, $100.

A special thanks to The Herald-Tribune for publishing our meeting dates and other activities.
