Area residents may take advantage of two upcoming Batesville Area Historical Society programs.
The annual BAHS Antiques Road Show will take place Tuesday, Aug. 13. Participants will be meeting at The Sherman, where doors will open for the event at 5 p.m. A pasta bar with sides and drinks will be served at 5:30.
The cost is $15 for members and $18 for nonmembers, reports publicity coordinator Anne Baran. Batesville Historical Center curator Carolyn Dieckmann urges those interested to reserve their spots by Aug. 5 by contacting her at 812-212-9832 or 812-934-3266. “Come for a fun evening as John Schoettelkotte enlightens us about our treasurers of yesteryear. If you have something whose history you’ve always wondered about, bring it with you and John will share his insights and knowledge.”
The next Sip, Snack and Stroll, sponsored by the Batesville Area Historical Society, is Friday, Aug. 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the historical center garden. Dieckmann advises, “You will be served light hors d’oeuvres and enjoy a variety of drinks as you listen to music and tour our latest display. We will begin our historical walking tour of the north side of town and sample food and drink along the way. Golf carts will be available for those who want to take in the history of our town, but would prefer to avoid having to walk.”
Reservations are $35 for nonmembers, or join BAHS and pay $30. Dieckmann is taking reservations at the same phone numbers. Details about membership and the organization are available at batesvilleareahistoricalsociety.org.
