The Franklin County Public Library held a Read Across the Galaxy event July 27, reports children's librarian Jennifer Hambley.

Children and parents came to meet Star Wars re-enactors from the 501st Legion, an international fan-based Star Wars organization that creates movie accurate costumes and does charity and volunteer appearances at Star Wars events. Twelve re-enactors came from Indianapolis and the surrounding areas.

The kids and families were able to meet their favorite characters, collect Star Wars trading cards and take pictures with the characters. Kids also exchanged their summer reading logs for Library Bucks, and they shopped for books, snacks and prizes. Everyone left with a bag full of books and goodies.
