Masonic Scholarships presented to quartet

Four local teens have received $1,800 Masonic Scholarships from the Grand Lodge of Indiana, Free and Accepted Masons, Scholarship Board, reports Sean Mang, P.M., Batesville Lodge 668 Indiana F&AM secretary.

Out of over 435 applicants, 411 were selected to receive scholarships. All local recipients were sponsored by Batesville Lodge 668 Indiana F&AM members.

Audrey and Beatrice Amberger, daughters of Douglas and Kathryn Amberger, Batesville, were sponsored by their father. Audrey plans to apply the Masonic Scholarship toward her second year at the University of Indianapolis. Beatrice will apply her award toward her first year at Indiana University.

Caroline Fitzpatrick, daughter of Ron and Lisa Fitzpatrick, Batesville, was sponsored by her dad. She will apply the Masonic Scholarship toward her first year at Purdue University.

Samuel Wade, son of Dave and Andrea Wade, Batesville, was sponsored by his father. He will use his scholarship toward his second year at Ball State University.

The Grand Lodge of Indiana Scholarship Board distributes earnings from an endowment, making it one of the largest fraternal scholarship funds in the country. In the years of its operation, over $6 million in scholarships have helped over 7,000 Hoosier students realize their educational goals.

Children and stepchildren of Master Masons, and Master Masons who demonstrate academic merit, financial need and community participation, may apply for scholarships if they are attending an Indiana college or university.
