The 17th annual Holidays Under the Spires will be held Dec. 7 in Oldenburg.
“We are keeping it relatively the same, but the Boar’s Head Festival is at 7:30 p.m. this year in Holy Family Catholic Church, which is a little different,” reports Jonathon Maple, who is coordinating the event with Mary Beth Kerker. “Additionally, we have a German horn group that will be performing on the streets. The fire department volunteers are looking forward to showing off their trucks and will continue having mini golf inside, which is a lot of fun.”
There are also many other attractions (please see box).
The Oldenburg Academy assistant principal reveals, “It is so cool to see people come back every year. I’ve already taken phone calls from people from all over the Tristate who just enjoy being in the Village of Spires ... with its small town charm and concerts.”
“I love the feeling that the town gives off that day. It is a busy day, but a fun day – full of festive fun and cheer. I love that the OA students get involved passing out cookies and spreading holiday spirit to all they meet.”
He encourages people to buy local. “There are such unique gifts and shops, as well as the arts and crafts fair at Holy Family gym. It’s a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping.”
“Our website (www.holidaysunderthespires.com) is being updated constantly as changes are made. We really encourage people to come down for a meal and plan to stay all day throughout the village – enjoy the peacefulness, charm and friendliness that is so close to home. Come catch the holiday spirit under the spires.”
