The drama teacher has assigned her class to present a monologue on any topic. What could go wrong?

Oldenburg Academy Drama Department will present “The Monologue Show, a Comedy” Friday-Saturday, Nov. 15-16, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

As each student presents his or her monologue, the drama teacher will grow increasingly frustrated and the audience will be left wondering what else could go wrong.

“I’m amazed at the talent of these students. It is a privilege to help them grow in confidence and stage presence,” said director Hannah Giesting, who is in her third year directing plays at OA. “They come to rehearsal each day ready to try anything I ask.”

“I love the fact that I get to act goofy, which I guess I do every day but on stage I have more fun,” stated senior Sophie Wesseler.

“There’s a bond between the cast members. As a freshman and new to OA, I feel like I have found my place,” Erin Pottschmidt added.

When asked if she had anything to say to people considering attending the show, Giesting responded, “I really hope you have the chance to see this amusing show. It is very worth your time. In today’s world, who doesn’t need any excuse to laugh?”

Cast members are seniors Delaney Elder, Dylan Fledderman, Ruth Heile, Alli Herbert, Owen Hudepohl, Alyssa Krekeler, Lingshan Liu, Grace Mack, Sarah Price and Sophie Wesseler; juniors Dominic McFee and Steven Zigan; sophomores Lizzie Geraci, Griffin Pitzer, Dyllon Stewart, Kate Voegele and Alyssa Wanstrath; and freshmen Avery Hammerle, Mary Hunter, Anika Lewis, Erin Pottschmidt, Anna Wanstrath, Eric Williamson and Yihan Yang.

Crew members are junior Luke Rosener and Freshmen Evan Hilbert and Will Rees.

Tickets are available at the door on show nights. They are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 18. Religious Sisters, Brothers and priests can attend free of charge.
