Indiana State Police responded to a crash involving two vehicles on U.S. 52 west of Landfill Road Wednesday, June 8, at about 4:30 p.m., said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, ISP Versailles District public information officer.
The initial investigation by Trooper Matt Holley determined that a 2004 Ford Explorer being driven by Amanda Boyd, 32, Brookville, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 52. While rounding a curve, her vehicle crossed the center line into the path of a westbound 2001 Honda Civic being driven by Roger Clontz, 19, Brookville. "The vehicles collided head-on at that location," according to Wheeles.
As a result of the collision, Clontz sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office. Boyd sustained minor injuries.
"It is unclear at this time why Boyd’s vehicle crossed the center line," the officer noted.
The road was closed for approximately three hours for investigation and crash cleanup. The investigation is ongoing.
The trooper also was assisted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Brookville Police Department, Brookville and Metamora fire departments and Franklin County EMS.
