MADISON, Wis. — Purdue guard Carsen Edwards emerged from the visiting locker room at the Kohl Center on Friday, following the Boilers' 84-80 victory over Wisconsin, with a smile on his face and soaking wet shoes in his hand.

When it comes to analyzing big men, Purdue center Matt Haarms is the go-to source for colorful descriptions. Haarms once has called himself a “deer." Issac Haas? “A sledgehammer.”

WEST LAFAYETTE – On a Saturday afternoon this fall, Tyler Trent flipped through college football games from the bed in his family’s living room, when his friend Josh Seals rolled through on a skateboard.

Purdue junior Carsen Edwards had another All-American-type performance with 24 points, but the story of Saturday’s 73-62 win over Belmont at Mackey Arena was the Boilermaker bench.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn had a decision to make. With time winding down in the Music City Bowl and Auburn sitting at the 1-yard line, third-string quarterback Joey Gatewood took the snap, retreated one step … and knelt down.
