Members of Prell-Bland American Legion Auxiliary Unit 271 met Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Eagles Club with President Marilyn Gausman presiding. Minutes of the Sept. 4 meeting were read and approved. Treasurer Sally Wilhelm gave that report, which was filed for audit.
Membership to date totals 144 – only four more are needed to meet the goal. A nice profit was made from the kitchen at the Sept. 8 Sons of the American Legion shoot. Wilhelm reported on the Sept. 14 Milan District meeting. She brought home the 25% membership award of $50 since the unit was drawn for that award. A thank-you card was read from Faith Sullivan, the unit’s Hoosier Girls State delegate.
Wilhelm also reported on the auxiliary fall conference held in Indianapolis. On the Friday before the conference began, 9th District members, along with members from other districts, served about 1,500 soldiers at Camp Atterbury. This was financed primarily by the 9th District along with some personal donations. The unit also turned in a check at the conference for the VA Shower.
Some major changes will have to be made in all constitutions and bylaws this year, mainly in the eligibility section. However, the group is waiting for national officials to send the wording.
