Chamber award nominations needed
Nominations are sought for three Franklin County Chamber of Commerce awards, says executive director Rhonda Brown.
The New Business Award is for a business or organization that has been open two years or less and shows integrity, goodwill and has a product or service that shows innovation.
The Business of the Year Award recognizes a business or organization that makes a significant contribution or impact to Franklin County and surrounding areas. Please provide what impact has been made and an example(s) to show this contribution.
The Beautification Award honors a business or organization that is dedicated to improving the appearance and experience of the county by making it a more attractive place to live, work and recreate.
All nominees must be chamber members.
Nominations, due by Feb.13, may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to Chamber Award Nomination, P.O. Box 211, Brookville, IN 47012; with the award title, name of business or organization, explanation of why nominated and additional information that would assist in determining this award.
Awards will be presented at the annual dinner Thursday, March 7, at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, Brookville. Tickets are $30 per person. To reserve a seat: email@example.com.
Calling all outdoors lovers
Fishing and outdoor enthusiasts can get a jump-start on the season at the Tri-State Fishing & Outdoor Show Saturday, Jan. 19, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 20, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Lawrenceburg Event Center, 91 Walnut St.
More than 80 vendors will be on hand offering custom rods, tackle, bass boats, kayaks and more, plus lots of fishing and outdoor-related gear. Outfitters, anglers and professional fishermen will give educational seminars both days, and a two-story rock climbing wall will be set up in the main lobby.

A free Chocolate Trail Passport is available at the Old National Road Welcome Center, 5701 National Road E., Richmond.
