Job fair companies must register

The Work Batesville Job Fair, planned by the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, city of Batesville and Batesville Rotary Club, is Tuesday, Oct. 1, between 2-6 p.m. at the Batesville Knights of Columbus Hall.

Cookout for a cause

A Brookville IGA cookout is slated for Friday, July 19, between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds from buying burger, hot dog, ribeye, chicken or pork chop meals will go toward 2020 Franklin County Arts Council scholarships.

A wine and art weekend

An Indiana Wine Trail Artisan Weekend is slated for July 27-28 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Hillrom third quarter eyed

Crafters and artists sought for fest

A few AppleFest vendor spaces remain for crafters and artists. The Batesville Kiwanis Club-sponsored festival is Sept. 28-29 at Liberty Park.

Deufol downsizing

Deufol Sunman Inc., 924 S. Meridian St., notified the town of Sunman in an April 29 notice of mass layoff that 72 employees would be affected.

A June 27 notice to town officials from human resources manager Lisa Nichols said, "Due to additional customer needs, Deufol must extend the date of termination for 35 employees to on or about Sept. 30."

The notice also stated, "The entire facility is not being closed."

Bedel will serve on commission

Batesville native Elaine Bedel, now living in Indianapolis and working as Indiana Economic Development Corp. president, has been appointed to the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission by Gov. Eric Holcomb until June 30, 2021.
