FFA members selling fruit and beef products

With 50 members present, the Batesville High School FFA chapter held its second annual meeting Sept. 23 in adviser Cassie Mumaw’s agriculture room, said Batesville FFA reporter Michaela Hoff. The meeting was brought to order by President Jacob Schwab.

Members discussed their participation in the Oct. 2 Ag Day for third-graders at Ripley County Fairgrounds Park, Osgood.

This year the FFA National Convention will be held Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Louisville, Ky. “Our chapter will be taking 20 members to the convention on Thursday, Oct. 31,” according to Hoff.

With Halloween fast approaching, FFA members will be trick-or-treating for canned goods Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. in Hillindale Commons and Farmington Estates. Donations will be transported to the Batesville food pantry. Citizens also may bring items to FFA boxes at Batesville Church of Christ, Holy Family Catholic Church and Southeastern Indiana YMCA.

FFA members have begun selling fruit, beef sticks and beef jerky for their annual fundraiser. Orders will be taken until Nov. 21. The food will be delivered Monday, Dec. 1.

The 54th annual Farm-City Banquet will be Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Members will be selling tickets. They are $7 in advance or $9 at the door. Interested persons can contact an FFA member or call BHS at 934-4384 and contact Cassie Mumaw.

The next FFA meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 28, in the ag room.
