DCHF holds scholarship banquet

---- — The Dearborn County Hospital Foundation recently hosted its annual scholarship banquet at the Dearborn Country Club.

Sixteen Class of 2013 high school graduates received $500 scholarships through the Dearborn County Hospital Foundation High School Senior Scholarship Program. In addition, nine students were awarded grant/loans as part of the DCHF and DCH Healthcare Student Grant/Loan Program, reports Anita Benning, DCH community relations director.

Scholarship recipients included: Rachel Hensley, Milan, a South Ripley High School graduate enrolled in the University of Indianapolis Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program, Anna F. Woods Estate Award; Jennifer Rowell, Rising Sun, a Rising Sun High School graduate seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Wesleyan University, Edward & Grace Gray Scholarship; Brandi Burks, West Harrison, a Franklin County High School graduate attending the University of Alabama to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, Dearborn County Hospital Medical Staff Award; and Conner Struewing, Sunman, an East Central High School graduate attending Ball State University to pursue a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree, Dearborn-Ohio County Medical Society Scholarship.

Also, Erika Rasnick, Brookville, a FCHS graduate who is working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Indianapolis, Elizabeth Anderson Award; and Ashley Ahaus, Milan, a Milan High School graduate attending the University of Indianapolis to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and Ashley Hammond, Osgood, a Jac-Cen-Del High School graduate who will work toward her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Manchester University, DCH Auxiliary Awards.

Also, Cortney Karn, Moores Hill, a MHS graduate who is attending Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, Noshir R. Toddywalla, M.D., Memorial Scholarship; Kayla Rowlette, Dillsboro, a South Dearborn High School graduate pursuing a pharmacy degree from Butler University, and Rachel Whitham, Florence, a Switzerland County High School graduate pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic and imaging sciences at the University of Southern Indiana, Anna Cook O’Brien scholarships; Megan Bachmann, Greendale, a Lawrenceburg High School graduate planning to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Anderson University, Lawrenceburg Lions Club Scholarship; and Clare Struewing, Sunman, an ECHS graduate enrolled in the pre-physical therapy program at Ball State University, United Community Bank Award.

Other scholarship recipients were Kristin Belter, Batesville, a Batesville High School graduate attending Indiana State University for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; Rachel Gramman, Brookville, an Oldenburg Academy graduate enrolled in the pre-occupational therapy program at the University of Indianapolis; Veronica Stahl, Rising Sun, a homeschooled student pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Anderson University; and Cassidy Werner, Batesville, a BHS graduate planning to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Indianapolis.

Individuals who received grants/loans were Julie Allison and Valentina Sheyko, Lawrenceburg, David Buckman, Milan, Jamie Cole, Dillsboro, Brenda Price, Carrollton, Ky., Abbey Gilb and Carrie Hobbs, Aurora, and Brittany Jeffries, Versailles, Associate of Science in Nursing degrees, Ivy Tech Community College; and Justin Pettit, Lawrenceburg, physical therapist assistant, Kent State University.
