Batesville High School Prom 2014 will take place Saturday, April 26, from 8 p.m.-midnight in the Batesville Middle School old gym, reports Rose Lacey, who is co-sponsoring the dance along with Sarah Jaisle.
The theme “Unmasque the Night” features decorations for a masquerade ball with purple, silver, black and white accents. Masks are encouraged, but not required. The sponsors have been working with the Junior Class Prom Committee since November to prepare for the big event.
The committee has planned many features in order to transform the gym, including a staircase/window scene and draped ceiling. The public may preview prom decorations this Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. “This will be the only opportunity for public viewing,” according to Lacey.
Parents and other community members are invited to watch students entering the dance by participating in the gallery on Saturday between 7:45-9 p.m. in the BMS commons. They should park on Mulberry Street and enter the school’s main entrance. Only students may park in the BIS/BMS shared drive.
Batesville Kiwanians are offering valet parking to students again in order to bring a touch of class to the evening.
Students will dance the night away to music provided by Tunes Inc. Prom court crowning will take place at 11 p.m., followed by distribution of favors. An after prom activity sponsored by BHS parents and the Choices Program will be available at Batesville Primary School beginning at midnight.
