The first high school free movie night for Batesville High School and Oldenburg Academy students was hosted by the Batesville Community School Corp. Choices Program Friday, April 3. “Captain America: A Winter Soldier” was screened at The Gibson Theatre. All students received a free popcorn, drink and candy item.
Program director Cindy Blessing stated that over 200 students participated. Two parents and two teachers assisted with the event. Blessing was grateful to theater operator Kim Powell. “Kim is always very eager and gracious to allow us to host events at The Gibson. He is a joy to work with and cares deeply about the youth of our community.”
Blessing also acknowledged Franklin County Stayin’ Alive and the Ripley County Local Coordinating Council for their grant dollars that help fund these types of events so that the program can provide a safe, alcohol- and drug-free environment for area youth.
