A group of Batesville High School FFA members traveled to Madison High School for the annual FFA area leadership contest March 11, according to FFA adviser Cassie Mumaw, the BHS agriculture educator.
She said, “Congratulations to Jacob Schwab, Thomas Hatcher, Chad Emsweller, Hayley Huntington, Megan Doll, Michaela Hoff, Jessica Meer, Destiny Taylor-Fathman, Molly Lecher, Levi Nordmeyer, Robert Strobel, Annie Schoetmer, Trevor Gartenman and Kyle Emsweller for all the effort and hard work” during the event.
Chapter members competed in a variety of contests. Annie Schoetmer successfully participated in creed speaking and walked away with a first place award. Chad Emsweller wrote an essay on biofuels and was in the leadership ambassador contest. He successfully placed first in both contests. Jessica Meer creatively constructed a multimedia scrapbook, placing first.
Jacob Schwab placed second after participating in a job interview. Thomas Hatcher and Destini Taylor-Fathman, who did an excellent job, placed third with their landscape management demonstration.
Levi Nordmeyer, Kyle Emsweller, Robert Strobel, and Trevor Gartenman participated in quiz bowl. “Even though the group didn’t place, they still did a wonderful job.” Hayley Huntington and Megan Doll took part in an animal science demonstration. Michaela Hoff and Molly Lecher presented a food science demonstration.
The leadership contest ended with the results of the area proficiency contest. Megan Doll, Thomas Hatcher, Cody Lecher and Raeshelle Strobel, each earned a successful win in his or her category. These students will accompany last year’s winners in submitting their applications at the state level.
