Two students from East Central High School’s fashion and textiles class were recently chosen to be part of the Nordstrom’s BP Fashion Board, according to teacher Brenda Osman.
Juniors Jenna Wernke and Cierra Shelton applied and interviewed to be part of this prestigious board. They were chosen after completing an application and questionnaire and creating a fashion project so they could express their sense of style to the Nordstrom employees conducting the interviews.
As board members, the girls will meet once a month at the Kenwood Towne Center Nordstrom department store where guest speakers come and talk about their jobs, how they started and what they do. They will help select outfits that are displayed in the teen section of the store and will be given projects that relate to fashion each month to help them further their knowledge in the industry.
The girls will also be involved in helping with fashion shows at the store and other special events that go on there. Both want to pursue careers in fashion. Wernke is very interested in fashion design and Shelton is interested in fashion merchandising.
Osman reports, “This is an excellent opportunity to help these young ladies further explore their interest in the field of fashion before leaving high school.”
