---- — Twenty five students from East Central High School participated in the Light the Night® Walk Oct. 10 at Sawyer Point, Ohio.
ECHS’s student-run organization, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, organized and promoted the school’s trip. President Laura Kuebel said, “The Light the Night Walk was so much fun. It was awesome to see how many people were there and who cared for the cause.”
The students raised over $450 to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by collecting donations to promote the cause. A special thank you goes out to senior FCCLA member Rachel Jackson for organizing the event.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. For many years, they have organized Light the Night® Walk, a fun-filled event where all participants walk across the Ohio River, while carrying lighted balloons, for the purpose of promoting cancer research.
