Students rake leaves for elderly

The Batesville Herald-Tribune

---- — On Saturday, Nov. 9, 20 East Central Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and FFA members teamed up with People Working Cooperatively and completed a community service project.

They raked leaves for three elderly people in the community. PWC employees also cleaned gutters, checked smoked detectors and trimmed hedges.

Chapter officer Elizabeth Hamersly said, “This is one of my favorite activities all year because we get to make a difference in people’s lives. We raked a lot of leaves today, and our group members learned teamwork and cooperation. We had fun also!”

After raking and removing the leaves from all three properties, the students and their advisers were treated to lunch at Snappy Tomato by the PWC organization. The FCCLA chapter is advised by Ashley McConnell and Brenda Osman. The FFA chapter is advised by Roy Johnson.
