Jessica Mason, daughter of James and Mary Mason, is a 2012 graduate of Franklin County High School and a member of the Highland Hoosiers 4-H Club. Floriculture and swine are her favorite 4-H projects. Her accomplishments in 4-H include getting to take the Achievement Trip to Chicago and winning Reserve Grand Champion in electric 2 years in a row. Her favorite memory was “starting a great friendship with Kelly Burger while listening to the radio at 4-H Round Up.” Aside from 4-H, Jessica is involved in FFA and youth group. She also enjoys gardening and raising animals. Her honors include being awarded Outstanding FFA Member for 3 years. Jessica’s Aunt Cathy inspires her because “no matter what projects I did, she always helped me.” In the future, Jessica plans to attend college to study landscaping and greenhouse management.
Julie Mersch, daughter of Jerry and Sharon Mersch, is a 2012 home school graduate and a member of the Whitcomb Boosters 4-H Club. Pencil drawing, painting, and starter calf are her favorite projects. Her achievements in 4-H include Grand Champion in art for 2 years and Champion in basic crafts with her pottery project. Julie recalls her favorite 4-H memory as “winning Grand Champion with my drawing and just hanging out at the fairgrounds every night.” Aside from 4-H Julie enjoys soccer, softball, art, babysitting her nieces and nephews, and hanging out with her friends and family. She is also involved with Catholic Youth for Life Group and other activities at her church. Julie is currently undecided about her future plans, but she still enjoys art and loves being with her family and nieces and nephews.
Sadie Miller, daughter of Deborah and Dusten Miller, is a 2012 graduate of Oldenburg Academy and a member of the Highland Hoosiers 4-H Club. Her favorite 4-H project is public speaking. Her achievements in 4-H include winning Reserve Grand Champion in public speaking and then going on to state fair with that project. When asked about her favorite 4-H memory, she answered, “When my 4-H group won the Share the Fun Contest and we had to present our act at the State Fair.” Aside from 4-H, Sadie loves spending time with her friends and going hiking. She also enjoys going for a run and working out to relieve everyday stress. Sadie’s mother inspires her because “no matter what happened she always tried to make me a better person.” Sadie plans to attend Ivy Tech and then transfer to Indiana University.
