FFA members qualify for state contest

On Monday, Feb. 24, the Batesville FFA Chapter held its monthly meeting at Batesville High School in Cassie Mumaw’s ag room, according to reporter Michaela Hoff.

There were 38 members and one ag adviser present. The meeting was brought to order by President Jacob Schwab.

Congratulations to Cody Lecher, Megan Doll, Thomas Hatcher and Rae Strobel for winning their respective proficiency area and qualifying to go to state next month. Additionally, good luck to Justin Grunkemyer, Jacob Schwab, Chad Emsweller and Holly Laker, who will again apply for a finalist position on the state level.

The Batesville FFA yearly banquet will be held April 30. The plant sale is May 2 from 3-6 p.m. and May 9, from 3-5 p.m. “There will be an even larger variety of flowers and vegetable plants this year. Moreover, we will again offer Boston ferns in two varieties,” Hoff noted.

The next meeting is March 31.
