---- — Balloons and clown shoes are coming to Batesville Intermediate School. On Saturday, Jan. 18, the BIS PTO will host a family fun carnival from 1-4 p.m. It is the school’s primary fundraiser, reports principal Jere Schoettmer.
This day has been planned as a day of fun for both students and their families.
What can you do at the Winterfest Carnival? This fun filled afternoon will feature different games like football toss, duck ponds, penguin fling, plinko, balloon darts, face painting, jail cell and others. PTO members have also incorporated some physical challenges as well. Food, including snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, water and orange drink, will be available.
Everything is purchased with tickets (50 cents each), and they can be pre-purchased from a BIS student or by contacting Mari Mause at 212-1527. They will also be for sale at the door.
The money raised will help fund classroom field trips, teacher allotments, End-of-Year Grade 5 Celebration, Principal’s Century Club and many other activities. The PTO also provides funding for field trip busing and other classroom support.
“Teachers pay for lots of classroom supplies out of their own pockets,” says PTO President Mause. “The PTO does not provide enough money to teachers for all supplies, but we try to help as much as we can.”
It takes a lot of people to make the carnival a success. Volunteers are always needed to operate games, cleanup, set-up and help with food sales and preparation. Volunteers are encouraged to contact Mause at 812-212-1527 if they can help.
