Three local students were selected to perform at the University of Evansville Department of Music’s 34th annual Holiday Pops concert. They included Alaina Mc Pherson, Batesville, majoring in music therapy; Candice Murray, Brookville, majoring in music education; and Charles Ritenour, Milan, majoring in music.
Holiday Pops took place Dec.10 in downtown Evansville’s Victory Theatre. The free concert brought together UE ensembles and soloists, including the university’s choirs, orchestra and wind, brass and jazz ensembles. It featured students and faculty members performing sacred and secular musical selections, ranging from “Greensleeves” to “Sleigh Ride” to music from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” ballet. It was televised on Evansville’s local WNIN Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
“Every year, it’s a joy to see talented students share their love of music with the community by performing in the Holiday Pops concert,” said Thomas Josenhans, music department chair. “The collaborative efforts of UE students and faculty make this performance a local favorite every holiday season.”
