BHS FFA teams compete

---- — The Batesville High School FFA chapter held its fourth meeting Nov. 25 in adviser Cassie Mumaw’s room, said FFA reporter Michaela Hoff. There were 31 members and Mumaw present.

The meeting was called to order by President Jacob Schwab. The chapter’s fall Career Development Events contest was discussed. It took place Nov. 12 at South Ripley High School. The forestry team consisting of Tyler Lecher, Jacob Koester, Adam Swain and Hunter Kellerman came in 14th place.

Qualifying for state competition was the crops team of Nathan Nobbe, Josh Nobbe and Jacob Schwab, led by Chad Emsweller, which came in second place. Chad Emsweller earned his way to the top spot, winning the contest for the second consecutive year.Teammates Kyle Emsweller, Chance Vankirk, Kent Siefert and Jared Laker placed sixth in the crops division.

The BHS entomology team of Megan Doll, Destini Taylor-Fathman, Jessica Meer and Hayley Huntington won the first place title. Huntington earned her way to win the overall contest. Members were congratulated for all of their hard work.

Annual fruit sales items were delivered Dec. 9. Hoff said, “Thank you to everyone who purchased fruit and supported our chapter.” The top five sellers were recognized: Thomas Hatcher, Megan Doll, Jacob Schwab, Michaela Hoff and Austin Franke.

The next meeting is slated for Jan. 27.
