4-H members share cold weather tips

Megan Doll called the fifth meeting of the Morris Shamrocks 4-H Club to order Feb. 10, according to reporter Sarah Ronnebaum.

Inspirations were by Austin Shrieve. The pledge to the flag was lead by Maria Hartman. Songs were lead by Alex Dudley, Maria Hartman and Amelia Hartman.

"We had a guest speaker come from Concepts Custom Framing and Gifts to talk about the various frames she has to offer for an assortment of projects," Ronnebaum noted.

The secretary’s report was given by Courtney Huntington, and the treasurer’s report was given by Hayley Huntington.

For health and safety, Drew Wagner said, "'Wear layers of clothing when you are outside during cold weather.'" Tyler Kuntz said to make sure "'your animals’ water is unfrozen so they don’t dehydrate, and make sure they are inside when it’s too cold.'"

Members discussed more about volunteering twice a month at the food pantry. They will start to clean and organize at the end of this month.

Also, "we reviewed the end-of-the-year party, where we played a wide assortment of games, like digging through hay bales for coins and matching a project to an example of it. We also made a miniature skit out of a bag of props. Fun was had by everyone. Pizza and sundaes were the refreshments."

For new business, March 1 is the enrollment deadline, and project check-in is July 19th. For old business, the group was encouraged to keep collecting cans.

Demonstrations were done by Bauman, Huntington and Doll.
