---- — Batesville Primary School kindergarten registration is slated for Thursday, March 6, in the school cafeteria and gym areas, according to principal Heather Haunert.
Children must be 5 on or before Aug. 1 to enter kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year. If a child’s birthday falls between Aug. 2 and Sept. 1 and the family is considering early entrance into kindergarten, Haunert should be contacted at 934-4509 for more information before March 6.
A parent or guardian and entering kindergartner should attend. Half-hour sessions will be set up between 8:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m. and 5-7:15 p.m. To schedule a session time, parents should call the school office at 934-4509. Registration papers will be mailed before March 6.
The child’s original birth certificate (no photocopies), current immunization records and completed registration papers must be brought to the session.
Parking is available in the west lot. Attendees should enter through gym or cafeteria doors near the back of the building.
Parents will attend an informational session with the principal while children participate in screening activities with teachers and staff. Haunert advises, “Please be prompt so that information can be given and there is enough time for your child’s screening.”
Scheduled appointments can be made for immunizations at two sites: Margaret Mary Health Wellness Clinic, 1051 State Road 229 N., Batesville, 812-934-0699, Tuesdays, 12:30-7 p.m.; and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.; or Ripley County Health Department, 102 W. First North St., Versailles, 812-698-0506.
If school is canceled due to bad weather, kindergarten registration will be held Thursday, March 13, with the same scheduled times. Parents should listen to WRBI (103.9 FM) for cancellations.
