STEM workshops offered at West Point

The Batesville Herald-Tribune

---- — Two Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Workshops will be held at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., reports Nate LaMar, east central and southeastern Indiana liaison officer.

Both workshops offer hands-on STEM activities taught by USMA faculty, cadet mentors and a team from the National Science Center. These programs are directly in line with USMA’s mission of educating, training and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

The Middle School STEM Workshop will take place June 2-4 and is very competitive.

For the first time ever, a girls-only Mini-STEM Workshop will take place March 8. It is open to current high school freshman and sophomore females.

All students selected to participate will receive a full scholarship, which includes room and board (middle school workshop only), meals and workshop materials. Each participant is responsible for his or her own transportation to and from West Point. Details will be provided upon selection.

Sixth- and seventh-grade students and ninth- and tenth-grade females can apply for either program by contacting LaMar by Feb. 28 at NateLaMar@cs.com.
