Summary of new laws available

BATESVILLE — Hoosiers can now access a complete summary of the new laws approved during the 2011 legislative session at www.in.gov/Senator.Leising, State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) said today.

“This year’s Indiana General Assembly passed historic reforms in an effort to make our state a better place to live, work and raise a family,” Leising said. “It’s important to me that residents in my district have an easy way to access the new laws that took effect July 1.”

During the 2011 legislative session, lawmakers worked together to approve 229 new laws pertaining to a range of topics including new private-sector job initiatives, education improvements, a ban on synthetic marijuana products, expansion of vote centers statewide and new legislative and congressional districts.

Leising said this publication breaks down the new laws by general subject matter and includes the bill number, public law number and the sections of the Indiana Code affected by the new law. The “Summary of New Laws” can be found on Leising’s website by visiting www.in.gov/Senator.Leising.
