Cold shooting leads to OA loss at South Decatur

— Coming off a solid performance in the season opener against Switzerland County, the Oldenburg Academy boys basketball team had to be looking forward to a trip to South Decatur.

Unfortunately, it did not go as hoped for coach Gary Moorman and crew.

The Twisters were defeated 53-23 by the host Cougars.

Oldenburg had an off night shooting and South took advantage. The Twisters were 7-of-27 from two-point range and only 1-of-19 from beyond the three-point arc.

A lone field goal by Ted Geis was all the Twisters managed over the first eight minutes as the Cougars jumped out to a 14 point lead.

It did not get much better in the second quarter as the SD lead grew to 30-6 by halftime.

The offensive output improved in the second half, but the deficit was too great to overcome.

Josh Stenger scored a team-high five points, while Matty Hurm and Peter Lamping each had four. Geis grabbed a team high seven rebounds.
