BATESVILLE — The Batesville High School varsity basketball team continued its winning ways with a convincing 77-36 victory on the road over the Hauser Jets.

“We got out to a fast start and was able to maintain that level of play most of the way,” BHS head coach Aaron Garrett commented. “I give our kids credit. They put last night’s shaky finish behind them.

“They came out focused and ready to play,” he added.

Bryan Hoeing scored a pair of field goals in the first 30 seconds followed soon after by baskets from Wes McKinney and Mike Hoeing.

The pace continued until the first quarter ended with the Bulldogs on top 23-8.

The second quarter offensive numbers were nearly identical as the Bulldogs entered halftime with a 45-18 advantage.

“It was the kind of start we had hoped to see,” Garrett added. “Our communication was better on the floor to go along with the great effort this group continues to give.”

The tempo of the game was not as swift in the third quarter, but Batesville was able to extend the lead to 33 points at 60-27.

The Bulldogs had 10 different players break into the scoring column.

Bryan Hoeing was the only one in double figures wit 26 points. Quinn Grimsley was second on the team with nine points followed by Mike Hoeing and Matt Dennis with eight apiece.

The Bulldogs improved to 13-1 on the season and will host the South Dearborn Knights on Friday.
