OA runners leave Waldron with two wins

---- — The Oldenburg Academy cross country teams traveled to Waldron High School and left with a pair of easy victories.

The Lady Twisters posted a perfect score of 15 points.

Sarah Billingsley set a new course record and placed first. Meredith Maier, Ashley Sedler, Haliegh Reed and Rachel Billingsley finished second through fifth to complete the scoring.

Other runners for coach Merle Hines were Madeline Maier (9th) and Kristen Stenger (13th).

The OA boys team was also impressive in their victory over the Mohawks.

Curt Eckstein and Justin Fledderman placed 1-2 to set the pace for the 21-runner field. Isaiah Frey, Jared Hasselbring and Luke Wukusick placed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Other top runners for Oldenburg were Chris Nurrenberg (11th), Nick Back (12th) and Gabe Frey (13th).

Midwest Catholic


The OA cross country teams traveled toDayton (Ohio) for the Midwest Catholic Championships.

The Lady Twisters placed fifth in the 21-team field with a team score of 189 points.

Sarah Billingsley led the way for the Lady Twisters with a fifth place finish. Meredith Maier placed 13th and Sedler was 24th. Rachel Billingsley was the fourth OA runner and she placed 40th.

The OA boys competed in the same championship and placed eighth as a team.

Eckstein and Fledderman continued to set the pace for the Twisters. Eckstein was eighth overall, while Fledderman stayed in the Top 25 in 24th place.

Isaiah Frey and Wukusick were the next two OA runners to complete the course. Frey was 64th followed by Wukusick in 92nd.
