The Batesville High School girls cross country team placed first in the 11-team Jennings County Invitational.
“What an incredible night for the Lady Bulldogs as they scored an almost perfect score,” BHS coach Lisa Gausman commented.
The Lady Bulldogs finished with a team score of 16 points, which is just one point shy of the minimum 15.
Jennings County was a distant second with 82 points followed by Southwestern (90), Madison (102) and East Central (112).
Kelsey Gausman led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with an impressive 20-second victory over the field.
Batesville had five other medal winners.
Sarah Poltrack and Grace Yeaton crossed the finish line in second and third, respectively. Mary Poltrack was fourth overall with Maria Wessell two placed back in sixth. Lauren Eckstein ran a personal best time to finish seventh, while Kyle Lehman was 13th.
