The East Central Lady Trojans handed Batesville a 3-1 loss.
Since the two teams play twice this season with the new conference line-up, this game was considered a non-conference game. They will meet again on Sept. 30 with conference implications.
The Lady Trojans struck first with a goal six minutes into the match. Rachael Sicking scored the game’s first goal to give EC an early lead.
The two teams battled for the rest of the half and with two minutes remaining, Batesville’s Mary Gutzwiller found the back of the net after a perfect cross by Megan Doll, according to coach Kyle Laker.
The Lady Trojans netted the eventual game winner just 15 seconds into the second half.
Batesville mounted several attacks but was unable to find the equalizer.
The Lady Trojans scored again with a goal from Melody Lutz to seal the victory.
The Batesville junior varsity soccer team lost their first match of the season by a 3-0 margin to the Lady Trojans.
The junior varsity’s record is now 5-1-1.
