Bulldogs lose in regional finals

— The season came to a close for the Batesville High School tennis team.

The Bulldogs were defeated 4-1 in the regional finals by the No. 16 Northeastern Knights.

The No. 1 doubles team of Nick Kirschner and Henry Luchow rallied from a one set deficit to defeat  Charlie Webster and Ryan Webster by the scores of 2-6, 7-5 and 7-5.

Kassidy Kase went to three sets at No. 1 singles before falling to Grant Espisito. Kase won the first set 6-3 then dropped the next two 6-7 and 2-6.

Mitchell Taylor and Jacob Paul suffered a loss in two set at No. 2 doubles as did singles players Dustin Nobbe and Blake Walsman.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 18-6.

Bulldogs advance with win over CHS

The Bulldogs advanced to the regional finals with a 4-1 victory over the Connersville Spartans.

Kase defeated Zach Mustin 6-1 and 6-1 at No. 1.

Walsman was a winner at No. 3. The BHS sophomore beat Kayden Mathews 7-6 and 6-3.

Batesville swept the two doubles matches.

Luchow and Kirschner defeated Jacob Bailey and Zac Lucas by the scores of 6-1, 4-6 and 6-4.

Taylor and Paul made short work of Brenner Boggs and Jacob Patterson to win 6-3 and 6-3.

Connersville’s Brandon Briscoe knocked off Nobbe in straight sets at No. 2.
