---- — On July 2, the Batesville Orioles defeated the Royals to claim the Cal Ripken Rookie League title, according to Coach Mark Stenger.
The final score in the championship game was 19-7. To advance to the final round, the Orioles won against the Red Sox (21-11) and the Rays (24-12). Both of the earlier round games were played in June, and the final game was delayed until July due to rain.
Unlike the regular season, in which all of the games and initial rounds of the play-offs were held at the baseball/softball complex, the championship game was held at the Huntersville field. The win came on the heels of a 9-3 regular season record for the Orioles that earned the team the regular season title as well.
The Batesville baseball team members include Luke Kuykendall, Aidan Belew, Jacob Stenger, Elijah Luckhaupt, Evan Berkemeier, Sam Weigel, Cody Sims, Alex Ferguson, Conner Drake, Noah Tuveson and Colt Kruthaupt.
The team was coached by Jason Luckhaupt, Paul Drake and Mark Stenger.
