Lady Bulldogs win county title in golf

McCreary sweeps medalist titles

---- — The Batesville High School golf team claimed its fourth consecutive Ripley County golf title and the eighth in the tournament’s nine year existence.

Delayed one day because of weather, the four teams traveled to North Branch Golf Course last Wednesday to determine the outcome.

Batesville finished with a team score of 185. Both the Milan and South Ripley had a team score of 225, but the fifth player’s score broke the tie and runner-up was awarded to the Indians. Jac-Cen-Del was unable to field a complete team.

Madison McCreary was the tournament medalist and was awarded the MVP honor. McCreary carded a nine hole score of 43, which was two strokes better than teammate Meg Liter.

Samantha Heidlage was third for BHS and fourth overall with a score of 48.

Gabby Cooper rounded out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs with a 49 followed closely by Madison Harsh with a 50.

South Ripley’s Mackenzie Black was third overall with a 45. Jac-Cen-Del’s Sydney Keene finished tied for fourth with a 48.

McCreary claims EIAC title

The Lady Bulldogs placed second as a team at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference golf tournament on Saturday at Brookville Golf Course, but have the individual medalist.

McCreary posted an 18-hole score of 73 to earn medalist honors. Connersville’s Tate Adams was eight strokes behind the EIAC Most Valuable Player in second place.

As a team, the Lady Bulldogs finished with a score of 361, which was 11 shots off the pace set by conference newcomer Connersville. Rushville place third with the help of a tie-breaker. East Central was fourth with 392.

Batesville’s Gabby Cooper and Madison Harsh placed in the Top 12 to earn all-conference honors. Cooper was seventh overall with an 90, while Harsh was 12th with a 96.

Other scores for Batesville were Heidlage with a 102 and Stange with 120.

The Lady Trojans were led by Brittany Bolton with an 87.
