Lady Bulldogs get two win in EIAC to begin week

The Batesville High School varsity volleyball team notched a pair of easy back-to-back wins in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference this week.

The Lady Bulldogs opened a with a three set win over Greensburg on Monday and followed up with the same on the road against South Dearborn.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Greensburg by the scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-12.

Bailey Baumer racked up 10 kills in 17 attempts against the Lady Pirates. The BHS senior also led the team in service points with 13 and digs with 11. Chelsey Paul was second on the team in service points with 12. Katie Thomas handled the majority of the setting duties and tallied a team-high 23 assists.

The victory came even easier at South Dearborn as they Lady Bulldogs triumphed 25-12, 25-10 and 25-13.

A lot of players got in on the action – eight different players recorded kills, while nine were called on to serve. Baumer’s 10 kills led the way with Anna Meyer adding nine. Kim Tidman was third on the team with seven.

Madi Oesterling served with 100-percent accuracy and finished with 12 points as did Baumer.

Junior varsity wins two

The Lady Bulldogs needed three sets to knock off Greensburg to begin the week.

After winning the first set 25-21, the Lady Bulldogs suffered a 25-14 loss in the second. The third and deciding set was close with BHS prevailing 15-11.

Josie Heidlage led the attack for the Lady Bulldog with six kills, while Sydney Strickland was second with four. Sophia Fledderman and Meg Reidy handled the majority of the setting duties.

Batesville made it look much easier against the Lady Knights and came home with a 25-16 and 25-21 win.

Heidlage again controlled the net for the Lady Bulldogs and finished with a team-high five kills. Reidy was second with four.

The team served at an 82-percent accuracy. Kylie Paul was first in service points with six, including three aces. Heidlage and Fledderman were second on the team with five each.
