-- — The Batesville High School volleyball team cruised through the first round of sectional play.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Greensburg in three sets – 25-16, 25-18 and 25-13 – to advance to the second round on Saturday at Batesville High School.
Greensburg made a few runs in each set, but nothing the Lady Bulldogs could not counter.
Katie Thomas had the hot hand serving. The BHS sophomore led the team with 16 service points, including three aces.
Junior Bailey Baumer had team highs with 12 kills and 13 digs.
Morgan Dreyer and Thomas shared the setting duties much like they have all season. Thomas had 13 assists in 27 attempts, while Dreyer had 11 in 33 opportunities.
The Lady Bulldogs will now play Madison in the first of two semifinal matches on Saturday. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the second to follow. The championship is scheduled to state at 7 p.m.
