BATESVILLE — The Batesville High School volleyball team continued their solid play as the regular season came to a close.
The Lady Bulldogs needed only three sets to knock off the visiting Greensburg Lady Pirates – 25-17, 25-11 and 25-16.
The team’s lone senior, Morgan Dreyer, led the way with 16 assists from the setter position and added four kills at the net.
Bailey Baumer continued to be the focal point of the offensive attack. The BHS junior finished with team-high 10 kills.
Rylee Goldsmith is also a featured target and finished with nine kills in 11 attempts.
Chelsey Paul turned in a solid night in the back row with 16 digs.
The junior varsity was a 25-15 and 25-18 winner over the Lady Pirates.
Josie Heidlage served up a team-high 12 points, while Sydney Strickland led the team with eight kills.
The varsity finished the regular season with a record of 24-9 and 8-2 in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference. The junior varsity improved to 16-10 overall and 6-4 in the conference.
Lady Bulldogs travel to Indy
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Indianapolis to compete in the Brebeuf Invitational.
Batesville pushed the host Lady Braves to the limit.
The Lady Bulldogs won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-17, but slowed down the stretch.
Brebeuf bounced back to take the third 25-20 and the fourth 25-14. The fifth and deciding set went to the No. 9 ranked Lady Braves 15-6.
Baumer and Goldsmith led the team in kills, while setter Katie Thomas had 19 assists in 37 attempts.
The Lady Bulldogs also suffered a loss in three sets to Silver Creek by the scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-21.
